This is the 46th year of Kamfari, which has been run by the Darwin Motorcycle Club since the inaugural race at Thomsen’s ‘Kamfari Park’, off the Arnhem Highway. A four hour race, riders in Kamfari are not allowed help from the public (including their mates) and must carry all tools and spares on their bike. Apart from spare goggles, fuel and clean water, nothing else is allowed in the pits. Famous for its energy sapping mud, the Kamfari is known to be one of the toughest races in Australia. This year’s course is set at the new venue on Cox Peninsular Road, Darwin, Northern Territory. Flood plains, creek crossings, bog holes along with some higher country sections with bush land, gullies and feeder streams make up this year’s 12km bike and quad courses. The terrain will take its toll on machine and rider and many riders will likely drop out through fatigue or machine failure.
