Why is everyone having a lend of primates at the moment? Recently in the fine, glossy pages of ADB we featured the USWE hydration packs that stop monkeys dancing, this month the poor guys are being used to do chain adjustments with their heads.

The Chain Monkey was given to me personally by distributor Andy White and it’s as if he’d seen the scars of my chain adjustment misadventures. Turns out he’s not too good at the old adjuster screws and locknuts himself.

“I’m a hopeless grease monkey, the number of chains and sprockets I’ve ruined by setting the tension too tight would pay for an overseas holiday,” he says. Perhaps that’s why he doesn’t sell performance parts.

The principal of the Chain Monkey is to provide the correct slack in the chain using the Monkey and then set the chain adjusters on both sides of the swingarm tight and even. Job done, but remember to release the Monkey from captivity.
