The greatest dirt bike racer of all time – Ricky Carmichael says he’s excited to be heading back to this year’s Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney, today announcing that he’ll be bringing his 2005 FIM World Championship winning Suzuki RM250 2-stroke motorcycle.

The man affectionately known as ‘the GOAT’ will compete in the very first Monster Energy AUS-X Open ‘2-stroke Showdown’ on both Saturday and Sunday of the event, riding the very motorcycle that he rode to world championship glory, a little over a decade ago. The special race, with further details yet to be announced promises to be a momentous occasion in Australian Supercross.

Carmichael says he know’s his mate Chad Reed won’t like it (this bike), saying “I was able to take him down in the 2005 SX Championship on it”-“it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Carmichael who won an astonishing 12 Championships in the premier 250/450cc Class across his hall-of-fame career, will return to Australia for the first time since 2015, where he was the undisputed crowd favourite at the inaugural 2015 AUS-X Open event.

The 2017 Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney is one of the largest Supercross, FMX and action sports events in the world, featuring some of the world’s best on two wheels.
