The injury required surgery which has ruled out any chance of Ferris racing the final three rounds of the MX Nationals at Moree and the double-header at Coolum.
The three-time MX Nationals Champion was scheduled to make his MX Nats return at Round 8 in Moree aboard a Recover8 Raceline KTM following his return home from the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship where he raced for Monster Energy Factory Yamaha.
Ferris was signed on as the fill-in rider for Aaron Plessinger and was hopeful the ride would last the full season. However, upon Plessinger’s return, Ferris and the team came to a decision to end Ferris’ contract. Prior to his stint on the Factory Yamaha squad in the AMA Pro Motocross, Ferris was riding for the Factory Yamaha team in the FIM Motocross World Championship where he raced the MXGP of Great Britain. This was followed by a quick appearance at the Murray Bridge MX Nationals where he finished first on Saturday (Rd 4) and fourth on Sunday (Rd 5).
Now forced to have some downtime, Ferris says he will use this time to reset, “It’s been a hectic year, this will slow me down for a few weeks and allow me to relax and hit the RESET button.”
